DREAM WILD HOLIDAY CLUB

Holiday Club White.png

The Dream Wild Holiday Club sessions empower children and young people by encouraging child-led learning through outdoor play and exploration. Our aim is for our participants to develop self confidence, resilience, communication, social interaction, speaking and listening, concentration and creative thinking skills whilst encouraging an empathy with nature.

Being outdoors also improves fine and gross motor skills, encourages independence and explores the awareness of risk taking, as well as improving a young person’s knowledge of the natural environment.

Activities include:

  • Nature Trails

  • Arts & Crafts using natural materials

  • Woodland Games

  • Den building

  • Woodcrafts

  • Knowledge of Trees and Nature

  • Pioneering

  • Primitive Skills tools & fires

  • Team Building Activities

  • Fire Safety and Cooking Over a Fire

We encourage the children and young people to enjoy the outdoors, regardless of the weather and make the most of what nature has to offer. Even on a cold winter’s day, outdoor sessions can run, making the most of the season.

Meet the Outdoor Team

We have wonderful outdoor learning practitioners working within our Dream Wild Provision.

Hi, I'm Lucy and I am the Head of Curriculum and Engagement at Swindon Tuition Centre.

Hi, I'm Emily and I am one of the Holiday Club Practitioners. I am Level 3 Childcare qualified and have experience working with children with additional needs. I love being outdoors as it brings freedom to the mind when having a crazy week. I love creating things for people as well as challenging myself with new skills. I find listening to the different sounds in nature very tranquil. I hope to see you at holiday club to join in with all the fun we have!

All of our outdoor team staff have enhanced DBS checks and have completed Child Protection Training to Level 2.

ALTERNATIVE PROVISION SERVICES WE DELIVER

Nature & Nurture Project

The Nature & Nurture Projects combines both the benefits of nurture groups with that of outdoor learning experiences and forest school practises. We understand that the education system is not one size fits all and that to reach the children and young people who are falling out of mainstream education, we must drastically change the way we deliver the National Curriculum so that every child really does have the chance to succeed.

The Nature & Nurture Project is an innovative hands-on and specialist learning programme aimed to promote positive outcomes for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. To read more about the aims of this project please download this information document

School Class Days

We can run outdoor learning sessions as a one off class day or a regular booking throughout a term.

We work with schools to create a tailored programme to suit their individual needs.

Our Outdoor Learning Leader leads on the class days of classes up to 30 pupils alongside the class teacher and/or teaching assistant. We can also provide another experienced staff member at an additional cost.

Prices:

Full Day £300

School Site Risk Assessment £50

SEMH Secondary

We also deliver our Outdoor Learning sessions as an alternative provision offer. We work with local schools, PRU units, EOTAS and the borough to embed outdoor learning sessions into young people's education plans.

This service caters for secondary school aged children and young people who have social, emotional and mental health needs, no longer attend mainstream school or are at risk of their school placement breaking down. For this our ratios are risk assessed depending on the referrals.
